Dura-Bar Type I Ni-Resist has good corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments including sea water and other salt solutions, dilute acids and alkalis and when extreme temperatures are involved. It can be used for piston rings, valve seats, valve guides, bushings, mechanical seals and exhaust components. It is compatible with aluminum alloys and stainless steels because the expansion characteristics are the same. Ni-Resist is also non-magnetic and has excellent resistance to thermal shock.

Chemical Processing and Liquid Handling:
Chemical and liquid handling equipment requires the ability to withstand long periods of service under a wide variety of corrosive conditions. Ni-Resist is successfully used in blowers, furnace and condenser parts, impellars and diffusers, rollers and conveyors subjected to corrosive environments and extreme temperature changes, salt solutions and slurry handling equipment, valves and valve fittings.
Electrical Power:
Increases in the demand for electricity and the need to increase efficiency of power generation means higher demands on equipment and higher operating temperatures. Application opportunities include equipment for power generation and transmission, and utilization of electricity from gas and diesel engines, as well as from steam water and gas powered turbines including mechanical seals, metering equipment, non-magnetic housings, steam handling equipment, switch parts, valves and related attachments.

Pulp and Paper:
The sulfite process in the manufacture of pulp has an acidic environment. When pulp is turned into paper, the environment is alkaline. A combination of corrosion and erosion exists in both operations.
Ni-Resist is also useful in many other applications including dryer rolls, pipe fittings, press rolls, pump parts, wood steamer components, valve bodies and valve parts.
