Electrician- Third Shift

Position SummaryThe Electrician is responsible for trouble-shooting and upgrading equipment. In addition, this lead role includes mentoring apprentice electricians.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed electrical apprenticeship or completed 2 year technical degree (Electrical, Electronic, or Robotics).

  • 4 years of industrial electrician related experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to interpret and apply NEC and engineering regulations on a practical basis.

  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics in aid of troubleshooting and project implementation.

  • Knowledge of Medium Voltage power distribution systems.

  • Proficient in the use and interpretations of test equipment such as DVM, process meters, oscilloscope, and megger.

  • Knowledge of Drives, controls, motion controllers, PLCs and motors

  • Knowledge of operation of SCRs, rectifiers, capacitors and resistors.

  • Ability to lay out control panels using schematics and I/O mapping.

  • Understanding of NEC and NFPA-70E.

  • Demonstrate proper diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 + years of PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemen, GE, etc.)

  • Extensive knowledge of VFD’s and motion control systems

  • PID loop programming and troubleshooting

  • Machine Tool, Fork Truck & Crane experience

  • Advanced knowledge and aptitude on hydraulic, pneumatic, combustion, machining and mechanical systems.

  • Formal training in VFD’s (Allen Bradley, Emerson, Magnetek, or PEI)

  • 4 + years troubleshooting automated systems (material handling, machine tools, and metal casting equipment)

  • 4+ years working in Foundry troubleshooting and maintaining Inductive melt and holding furnaces

Machine Tool Maintenance Mechanic

Position Summary

The Machine Tool Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repair of all manufacturing equipment with a general focus on the finishing equipment in the plant.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read blue-prints, electrical schematics and hydraulic diagrams.
  • An in-depth understanding of the application of technical documents such as machine & equipment manuals and safety documentation.
  • An in depth understanding of CNC controls such as Siemens and Mazatrol.
  • The ability to diagnose various sources of mechanical and industrial control related issues on CNC machines.
  • The ability to operate manual mills, lathes, saws, and drill presses.
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess good interpersonal, listening, and participation skills including ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of machine tool equipment design (servo motors, servo drives, encoders, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Formal training with hydraulics and CNC machine control.
  • 5 plus years of experience with CNC and machine tool repair and maintenance.
  • 5 plus years of experience maintaining/repairing Gisholt turret lathes & Cincinnati duplex mills.

Major Accountabilities

  • Perform advanced preventive and predictive maintenance inspections and repairs.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on equipment mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and CNC control systems.
  • Determine appropriate corrective action for unplanned equipment failures including repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds.
  • Perform and observe operational checks to ensure that all problems have been corrected.
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and sequence work including ordering required parts and staging necessary tools and equipment.
  • Determine and/or develop maintenance procedures when documentation is not available.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of maintenance work performed.

Maintenance Mechanic

Position SummaryInstalls, maintains, and troubleshoots material handling equipment, pollution control equipment, production equipment, and manufacturing facility. Demonstrates high level of skill in using appropriate machine and hand tools.  Has necessary experience in accepted mechanical maintenance practices and procedures along with repair welding, cutting and rigging skills.

Major Accountabilities

  • Performs a wide variety of machine installation, maintenance and troubleshooting work to keep production and support equipment in operating conditions
  • Installs and replaces anti-frinciton bearings in all types of plant equipment such as  oscillating converoys, cut off and sawing equipment, centerless grinders, trepanning lathes, and many others; knows and  uses correct practices and procedures.
  • Installs, repairs, replaces, and troubleshoots power transmission drives and aligns and adjusts sheaves and couplings
  • Plan, layout, and install complex wiring circuits and distribution centers in conformance with establishes electrical codes; plan, measure, bend, and fir conduit.
  • Installs and troubleshoots motor control centers, power distribution panels, lighting panels and controls on plant equipment such as bar pulling machines, cut off equipment, centerless grinders, trepanning lathes, dust collectors, melting and holding furnaces and other similar types of equipment.
  • Repairs or replaces all components in the bar pulling systems overhead cranes, and Finishing Department equipment.
  • Proceeds independently to do jobs such as replacing a hydraulic cylinder on a holding furnace repairing a transmission in a centerless grinder , or replacing a coil on  cordless  furnace
  • Performs all work required to rig, move and erect all types of equipment for new installation, major part replacement, and layout changes; operates fork lift truck sometimes equipped with special attachments in a manner peculiar to maintenance for lifting, pulling and transporting; skillfully sues all types of rigging and hoisting equipment such as chain falls, jacks, and ratcheting hoists.
  • Uses maintenance shop tools in a skillful, competent and safe manner, including machine tools such as drill press, power saw and the hydraulic press as well as eclectic drills, grinders, sanders, pneumatic hammers, welding and cutting torches, wrenches hammers and a variety of others.
  • Follows all plant safety rules; knows how to lock out all plant equipment so that it is safe to work on; users safety equipment appropriate for the job; is aware of the safety of others.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Maintenance Mobile Mechanic - 3rd shift

Position Summary The maintenance mobile mechanic C is responsible for maintenance and repair of all mobile equipment.       

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in teams
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in a mechanical and/or electrical maintenance field
  • Possesses a strong and broad technical aptitude that can be applied in a manufacturing environment
  • Formal training and hands on experience with hydraulics & pneumatics
  • Proficient with electric and gas welding
  • Proficient with computers
  • Formal training in the field of electronics and/or electricity

Major Accountabilities

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on electric and propane fork trucks to maximize safe and productive operations.   
    • Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repairs of engines, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electric systems, wheels, tires and under carriage.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
  • Trouble shoot and diagnose hydraulic, mechanical and electrical problems
  • Possess a general knowledge of the operating principles and maintenance of an internal combustion engine.
  • Read and comprehend maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, owner’s manuals and training manuals.

Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Position SummaryThis position oversees the manufacturing engineering activities which cover development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain product functionality, quality and cost efficiency. This position ensures the various engineering activities (manufacturing, process and industrial engineering) and production departments work together cohesively by providing good process control, product design, product lifecycle management, material workflow, people utilization, scheduling and capacity planning. This position will be responsible for the key systems including: Manufacturing Execution System (MES), APQP database for quoting and launching new product, Production Reporting database, Process Improvement Investigations, Engineering Change Orders and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) master item Bill of Materials (BOMs), routings and tools.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Metallurgical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of design or process related experience working in a foundry or metal processing factory.
• Drafting and CAD skills. • ERP, MES, and Product Data Management (PDM) database experience.
• Continuous Improvement, Lean Tools, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and Root-Cause Analysis experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams as a leader and as a member.
• Ability to communicate and influence engineering driven change.
• Proficiency with advanced features of Microsoft Products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Business fields.

  • Continuous Metal Casting experience.

  • Project management experience.

Major Accountabilities

  • Partner with technical staff to define process and product, especially as it relates to melting, processing and casting of iron.

  • Work with appropriate functions and staff to eliminate recurring problems through mistake proofing, automation, and process improvement.

  • Manage process control databases that are integrated with operations and implement automated systems (MES – Production Shop Floor).

  • Iterative product development leveraging established capabilities and technologies to launch variations of current product lines (manage APQP quoting and launch processes).

  • Optimize current technologies and manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, manufacturing cycle times, asset utilization and total product costs.

  • Review, define and prioritize project requests, especially related to manufacturing process product improvements.

  • Coordinate with Quality Department for customer interactions.

  • Develop and implement scheduling and capacity studies, including material, standard rates and workflows in various departments.

  • Review, approve and update production and customer CAD drawings.

  • Work closely with finance and project engineers to provide ROI calculations, production studies, budgets and other cost improvement efforts.

  • Develop process, analysis and reports to analyze production and utility data.

  • Support and guide plant-wide Continuous Improvement efforts.

Project Engineer

Position SummaryResponsible for design of equipment and manufacturing processes and components to meet plant requirements including project management, CAD drawings, reliable function, data collection, and project close-out. Projects range from new capital equipment to small redesigns on existing systems. The activity for the projects ranges from individual execution to larger cross-functional teams with others as the leader.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related degree.

  • Two to five years’ of design related experience in a manufacturing environment, or a combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to interpret and apply equipment regulations on a practical basis,

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven project management skills.

  • Knowledge of industrial equipment.

  • Proficient in CAD and drafting.

  • Proficiency with advanced features of Microsoft Office software products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years’ design related experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Purchase, organize, and develop project feasibility studies, based on product concepts encompassing basic engineering disciplines.
  • Obtain quotes and approve supplier products.
  • Develop project estimates and financial proposals.
  • Keep abreast of technological changes and developments in related fields.
  • Work accurately and responsibility to avoid probable errors that may be difficult to detect resulting in defective equipment and excessive cost/inadequate production over an extended period of time.
